Printastic

Emma Cook as some may know is pretty deadly at what she does. The girls got style, she does her own thing in terms of fashion and has an imaginary muse by the name of Susie. I'd love a job working with Miss Cook (hint hint)
Her latest collection is delicious. Its a mix of pretty ponys and foxglve flowers printed on silks, with draped grey skys, and my favourites the lightbulb prints and Rapunzel-esque, spilling over the shoulder plaits. The silhouettes are simple and easy to wear, and look just plain damn cool. Check out her website to get a better look at the S/S 11 collection www.emmacook.co.uk

All that glitters

This is Ashish. And Ashish is yum .The collection is mad and quirky and covered in sequins which are hand sewn onto every garment. You probably cant tell from the poor quality snap but this 2011 S/S collection is dripping with sequins. The oversized rugby shirt is covered in them, the cow print skirt is indeed a sea of sequins as are all of the weird and wonderful items in the collection, including that pink gingham all in one number.
Ashish Grupta is the designer behind the sequined delights, hailing from Dehli originally he is known as "The King of Sequins"...a title deservedly given. In his latest collection Ashish has merged cowboy fringing with mc donalds golden arches and of course as many sequins as possible.
I love how he uses sequins as an everyday material, why not have a tshirt made from sparkly little discs. He makes an ordinary tshirt or skirt that little bit more special and different. Why should sequins be reserved for christmas office parties, i think we should wear them all the time.

Tea for Two

On a recent charity shop scour I came across this brilliant little tea set. Sitting amongst chipped mugs, mismatched saucers and some dodgy looking glasses I found it, and I feel in love. What's to love about a few cups and saucers I hear you say? Wellllll.....

Firstly the set is GOLD as you can see, not real of course that would be silly. It leans towards the tacky side of gold as its got quite a high shine to it, this only adds to my love for it. I love tacky.

Secondly the little "ye olde country" scenes of milkmaids and the like which are on every piece of the tea set.

Thirdly it only cost me €4...delira I was! The reason for its cheap price tag may have something to do with me being at home in the countryside, in the middle of nowhere, in my local charity shop at the time of buying it. I presume the locals are scared of shiny gold teapots and charity shops come to think of it and thats why it was still there.
Anyone fancy a cuppa :)

Australian outback

Whilst dreaming of the feeling of sunshine on my face and a tan to match I came across this young designer. The images in her new collection and the pretty ice-cream pastels made me want to hop on a plane, destination sun. The designer in question is Karla Spetic. She is an Australian designer who Ive recently come to love. Her style is a mix of clever tailoring, pastels and wicked cool prints. Spetic's latest offering is a very pleasing one indeed. I love the bold use of the Australian outback images on simple silhouettes teamed with the subtle pastel colourway.

Being a print designer meself I tend to scrutinize a little too much but I like it when a designer has the balls to slap a big print on the front of a simple dress. The collection is quite masculine in shape with trouser suits and shirts being the main focus but the use of pretty pinks and pale blues adds that feminine edge. This is only the designers second collection and I cant wait to see what she produces in the future.

Vintage Beauty

I love vintage, as it seems do most of the 20 somethings of the world today . I love the thrill of finding a jumper or dress that only costs a euro or two, and isnt in all the highstreet shopees.
You can imagine my deeeeelight when my mum (she is great, rather "with it" for a mum) picked up this bombshell on a recent scour of vintage boutiques along Drury street.

It is hard to describe how much i love the kitch, overthetop glamour of this cardigan/coat. The collar is blue fox fur and the cardigan is mohair with SILVER SEQUINS omg!!!! its everything a tacktastic loving girl could want. Sadly my mum has decided to give it to my Granny as its her 70th birthday tomorrow (my Granny is unbelievably cool, she lends me high heels and dresses immaculately herself so this isn't such a bad thing) Bye bye blue beauty, i will miss you....

p.s. please excuse the embarrassing photos, i look like a goon I know. I didn't intend to do outfit posts but I couldn't leave this beauty in the dark :)

Its been a while since i last posted....Christmas has been and gone, I have (along with the rest of the country) been sick as a dog with the flu and now its January. As is well know January is full of the blues...what is there to look forward to? Cold, broke, boring times ahead.
But boo to all that....lets look at some lovely things and forget about January..
